Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

CueRecord is a local-first macOS application for scripted teleprompting and screen recording. This privacy policy explains what data the app does and does not collect.

Open-source foundation

CueRecord is built on the open-source f/textream project, extending its local-first teleprompter foundation with CueRecord-specific recording, script management, and workflow features. This attribution does not change the privacy commitments described below.

Data we collect

CueRecord does not collect, transmit, sell, or store personal data on our servers. The app has no account system, analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDK.

What stays on your device

Analytics

CueRecord does not include analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry. No usage events, scripts, recordings, audio, or transcripts are sent to our servers or to a third-party analytics service.

Permissions

CueRecord may request microphone access for word tracking, dictation, and recorded voice; screen recording access for screen capture; camera access for the optional camera overlay; and local network access when Remote Connection or Director Mode is enabled. These permissions are governed by macOS and can be revoked at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Remote and Director modes

Remote Connection and Director Mode are disabled by default. When enabled, CueRecord serves a browser page from your Mac over your trusted local network so another device can view the teleprompter or control unread script text. Director Mode uses a per-session token embedded in the QR/link flow. Disable these modes when you are finished, and avoid enabling them on public or untrusted networks.
